Gilmerton Primary School..........................................."Learning for Life"

About Us

Gilmerton Primary School is a non-denominational primary school with pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7.

The school was opened on its present site in 1968.
It consists of two buildings and an annexe - with a total of sixteen classrooms, a gymnasium, a dining hall, an assembly hall (which serves as a second gymnasium), a library, two project areas which are multi-purpose, a music area, a learning support base and a medical room.
There is a large playground and a playing field.

There are approximately 400 children in the school, organised in fourteen single year group classes and one primary1/2 class. Class organisation is dependant on the school role and therefore may vary from year to year. Our motto is:
"Learning For Life"
This can be seen in our foyer.

Recently we have expanded our library both in size and number of books.

Have you checked out our collection lately?

At Gilmerton we celebrate different festivals and the success of the children. These take place in Assemblies, both class and whole school, and at special gatherings. Children have the opportunity to demonstrate their talents and receive certificates and prizes for work inside and outside the classroom.
