Gilmerton Primary School..........................................."Learning for Life"

About Us

Gilmerton Primary School is a non-denominational primary school with pupils from Primary 1 to Primary 7.

The school was opened on its present site in 1968.
It consists of two buildings and an annexe - with a total of sixteen classrooms, a gymnasium, a dining hall, an assembly hall (which serves as a second gymnasium), a library, two project areas which are multi-purpose, a music area, a learning support base and a medical room.
There is a large playground and a playing field.
There are approximately 415 children in the school, organised in fourteen sigle year group classes. Class organisation is dependant on the school role and therefore may vary from year to year.

Our motto is:
"Learning For Life"
This can be seen in our foyer.
Recently we have expanded our library both in size and number of books.

Have you checked out our collection lately?
Gilmerton Primary School at the end of February 2005 was a snow-filled adventure playground for the kids!

...and on 3 March 2006 it looked the same!
